  • How do I install the Zoom desktop client and Zoom mobile app?
    • There are two convenient options to download Zoom client for meetings.
    • Install client from Zoom Download Center
    • From a Zoom meeting invite, download and run Zoom
  • Do I need to install the Zoom desktop or mobile client to participate in a Zoom meeting?
    • Full Zoom features are available with the install of Zoom desktop client and Zoom mobile app, however, it is not required to participate in a Zoom meeting.
  • How do I log activate my Zoom account and use Single Sign-On?

Two Options to Install Zoom Desktop Client:


Option 1) Install Client from Zoom Download Center

  • Step 1) Browse to the Zoom Download Center
  • Step 2) Select Download under Zoom Client for Meetings
  • Step 3) Click the downloaded installer file

Zoom Meeting Tips:

  • Before you join a Zoom meeting log in to Zoom https://minnstate.zoom.us using Single Sign-On (SSO) and your StarID credentials. This will allow you to quickly join meetings that have been set to require authentication for meeting participants.
  • If you do not sign in with SSO, you will be named as Guest as your display name, and you may not be recognized by the meeting host or co-host.

Option 2) Download and Run Zoom from a Zoom Meeting

  • Step 1) At the Minnesota State Zoom login page https://minnstate.zoom.us, log in to Zoom using your StarID credentials. You may want to bookmark this page.
  • Step 2) Click on the meeting link provided to you by the meeting organizer. If your browser doesn't begin downloading the installer file immediately, click the download & run Zoom link
  • Step 3) Click the downloaded installer file to launch your meeting

Install Zoom on your Phone or Tablet

  • Search for the Zoom Cloud Meeting from the Apple App Store or Google Play and install the application on your device. There are several Zoom related applications. You will want to ensure you select the Zoom Cloud Meeting app.
