Response, Problem or Question:
Respondus LockDown Browser is prompting me for an administrator login to launch, and I am using a school-issued loaner device.
Resolution or Steps:
1. Log in to the Device
Sign in using your
student credentials
on the
loaner device
.
2. Open Software Center
Click the
Start (Windows icon)
on the taskbar.
In the search bar, type
“Software Center”
and open the app.
3. Select the LockDown Browser
In Software Center, go to the
"Applications"
tab.
Locate the following options:
Respondus – ARCC LockDown Browser
Respondus – ATC LockDown Browser

CAUTION:
Make sure to download the version of Respondus LockDown Browser specific to the college you are attending.
4. Launch Your Quiz in D2L
Open
Microsoft Edge
or another browser.
Login into D2L.
Navigate to your course and open the quiz that requires LockDown Browser.
5. Start the Quiz
Click
“Start Quiz”
as you normally would.
6. Launch LockDown Browser
When prompted, click
“Launch LockDown Browser.”
⚠️
Do NOT click "Download and install the latest version of LockDown Browser."
This step is unnecessary on loaner devices and may cause conflicts.
7. Complete the Quiz
The quiz should open in
LockDown Browser
without any issues.
Take and submit your quiz as usual.
