YuJa Panorama & Digital Accessibility

Working Toward Accessibility: The Three Rs Framework

  • Remove: Get rid of unused or redundant files (declutter your D2L).

  • Remediate: Update or upgrade any remaining files to accessible formats.

  • Refresh: Moving forward, create and upload only accessible files.

Introducing YuJa Panorama

YuJa Panorama is an accessibility tool integrated within D2L Brightspace that helps faculty identify and improve the accessibility of course materials. It automatically checks a variety of document formats for common issues—such as missing alt text, poor contrast, and reading order—and provides guidance for making content more inclusive for all learners. Panorama is a helpful starting point for accessibility review, supporting faculty in creating more equitable and accessible learning experiences.

Creating accessible digital materials doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Panorama analyzes documents—such as PDFs, Word files, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets—for accessibility. Importantly, Panorama will not catch all accessibility issues - human review is necessary.

Create Alternative Formats

In your course Content, you will see various accessibility icons next to each item. If you hover over the icon, you will see Alternative Formats available and a score. Note: Students will only see the accessibility icons. Students can generate alternative file formats to meet their own needs. They will not see a score.

Restoring Your Document to a Previous Version

When you update your documents in Panorama, such as by manually replacing it or applying automatic proposed fixes, the previous version will be automatically saved. It allows you to access a history of all previous versions and restore them when needed. Restoring a document to its previous version will also update all Alternative Formats that have been generated for it. For more information on Version History, visit Restoring Your Document to a Previous Version.
