The purpose of this article is to provide details regarding the 22H2 Feature Update and 1) how to determine if your computer needs the update, 2) how to manually update your computer and 3) what to expect when you are running the update.
Computers that are already running 22H2 will not need to run this update.
- To find out which version of Windows your device is running, press the Windows logo (Start menu), type winver in the Open box, and then select OK. If you have versions 20H2 or 21H2, you will need the 22H2 update.

INFORMATION FOR AUTOMATED DEPLOYMENT OF 22H2
The Windows 10 Operating System Update will be scheduled in a two-step approach. Once you receive the initial notification that the upgrade is available, you will have 14 calendar days to install the update on your terms.
- Initially, you should be notified of the update daily; as time passes, it will warn you more often. After that, you can install it immediately or later, but no later than 14 calendar days.
- Once that 14-day deadline passes, the system will automatically be updated.
The 22H2 feature update is a critical Operating System update and will you may not be able to use your computer for upwards of 15 minutes.
- The update does not overwrite any files or documents on your desktop or any saved folders; however, ensuring you have saved your work is always advisable, and preferably in OneDrive.
- The entire update process may require multiple restarts.
- Starting the update before taking your lunch break or at the end of the day is advised.
Once the update is complete, log in and make sure all your applications are functional and you can conduct business.
