D2L: Adding and Removing Items from Drop-down Menus

This article describes how to remove and add items from the drop-down menu in D2L.

Question: Can I remove items from the D2L course drop-down menus (e.g. Materials, Communications, Assessments)? 

  • If so, can I also add items back to the menus?

Answer: Yes.  Most menu items can be deactivated.

  • Most of the menu items can be deactivated if you do not use them in your course.
  • These menu items can be reactivated at a later time, if necessary. 
  1. Click Course Admin. 
  2. Click Tools. 
  3. A check mark indicates the tool is activated. 
  4. An “x” indicates the tool is deactivated. 
  5. You can click on the empty buttons to the right/left of the check mark/”x” to change the tool status.

 

  • Many tools are listed including ones working in the background of your course.  I recommend not turning off tools that you are not familiar with.
  • If you turn off the Question Collections tool, this will cause the Add/Edit Questions button to disappear.
  • If you turn off the Competencies tool, this will cause the Add Rubric button to disappear.
