Kaltura MediaSpace: Add a Public YouTube Video to your Kaltura MediaSpace Account

This article describes the method used to add public video YouTube to your MediaSpace account.

Question: Can I add a “public” YouTube video, that is not my own, to my Kaltura MediaSpace account so I can keep track of the videos I use in my course?

Answer: Yes.  “Adding” a YouTube video simply adds a link to the video into your Kaltura MediaSpace account.

• You can view the YouTube video through your Kaltura MediaSpace account.
• You cannot perform certain functions on YouTube videos such as editing and adding hotspots. 
• However, you can add quiz questions along the timeline of YouTube videos.

1. Log in to Kaltura MediaSpace at https://mediaspace.minnstate.edu/.  Click Add New.  Click YouTube.

2. Log in to Kaltura MediaSpace at https://mediaspace.minnstate.edu/.  Click Add New.  Click YouTube.

3. Click Preview. Click Save. The YouTube video will appear in your list of media in MediaSpace.
