Install Outlook on your device:

  • Step 1) Go to www.office.com
  • Step 2) Click  in the upper right corner
  • Step 3) Enter your login email address and StarID password
    • Employees: starid@minnstate.edu
    • Students: starid@go.minnstate.edu
  • Step 4) Install Office and follow the prompts

Logging into Outlook:

  • Step 1) Open Outlook App.
  • Step 2) Enter your login email address
    • Employees: starid@minnstate.edu
    • Students: starid@go.minnstate.edu
      • Example below is for a student

  • Step 3) Enter your password
  • Step 4) Enter an authentication code if you have one. (See below)
  • Step 5) Add another mailbox (Optional)
  • Step 6) Press Done

 

  • It may take some time to update all your Outlook folders. You can view the status located at the bottom right of the Outlook window.

Multi-Factor Enrollment

If you see the message below when logging into Office 365 or Microsoft Office apps, you have been enrolled in Multi-Factor Authentication for additional security protections.  Please follow the instructions below to complete the setup process for Multi-Factor Authentication.

A mobile device (iPhone/iPad or Android phone/tablet) is required for the setup procedure below. An app called “Microsoft Authenticator” (Install from Google Play Store or Apple App Store) can be to be installed, but would have to be the first step.

Faculty and Staff:

  • This app DOES NOT transfer any data to Microsoft, Minnesota State, or Minnesota State colleges/Universities.
  • This app DOES NOT give control of your device or data to Microsoft, Minnesota State, or Minnesota State colleges/Universities
  • Installing this app DOES NOT constitute government data under Minnesota State System Procedure 5.22.2 Cellular and Other Mobile Computing Devices

Click NEXT

Then you can choose to install and use the Microsoft Authenticator app

or

In the lower left of the box is small letters saying something like: "I want to use a different method" click on the words
Choose "Phone" from the dropdown, continue.
Then enter the country (United States) and then your phone# and check if you can receive text messages.
The system will text you a 6-digit verification code to set up your phone the authenticate your logins.
