Financial aid in summer

Can I receive financial aid in the summer at Anoka-Ramsey?

It depends. It differs based on the aid you qualify for and the number of credits you are taking.

  • MN State Grant - If you receive the MN State Grant, you are eligible to receive additional funding for summer courses as long as you have not reach the maximum attempted credits. The amount of the grant varies based on the number of credits you take in the summer, so it may not be the same amount you were awarded during the fall and spring semesters.
  • Pell Grant - This year, you are able to receive up to 150% of your Pell Award. If you received the maximum amount of your award for fall and spring, you are eligible to receive up to an additional 50% of the award. The amount of Pell Grant also varies based on the number of credits you are taking in the summer. Please note that using an additional Pell Grant in the summer will count towards your lifetime eligibility of 600%.
  • Loans - If you have not accepted all of the loans you were awarded, you are able to use the leftover funds for summer courses. However, you still must be registered for 6 eligible credits to receive loans.

Please note that you must first register for summer classes before you will receive an award letter for summer. Register for summer courses as soon as registration opens in late March.
