What is the
maximum
amount of student loans I can borrow?
The federal government sets a limit on the amount of subsidized and unsubsidized direct loans a student is able to borrow both in a year and throughout their lifetime. This amount will vary based on your dependency status, academic level, Expected Family Contribution, and Parent Plus Loan eligibility.
