Cisco Jabber: Permanently Set Your Default Audio Device

Article Type: How-To

Problem: Jabber keeps changing the default audio device.

  • After restarting the computer, the headset is no longer working for Jabber calls.
  • Audio might be coming through a monitor or desktop speakers instead of the headset.

Resolution: The default audio device can be permanently set in Jabber's audio settings.

  1. Click the "Settings" icon then click "Settings".
  1. Click "Audio".  Click "Advanced".
  1. In the "Speaker" and "Microphone" sections, select the device that you would like to use as your default device.  Use the arrow to move the device to the top of the list.
  • Note: You may also select the device through which you want to hear the ringer under the "Ringer/Alerts" section.
  1. Click "Apply" to save your changes and close the settings window.
