Question: What kind of editing features are available in the Video Editor in Kaltura MediaSpace?
Answer: Kaltura MediaSpace offers editing functions such as cropping, splitting, and fading.
Note: To keep a copy of your original video, make sure to “Save a Copy” before making edits.
To designate the beginning and end of your video, use Set In and Set Out.
- Click and drag the Real-Time Marker to where you want your video to begin.
- Click the Set In button.
- Click and drag the Real-Time Marker to where you want your video to end.
- Click the Set Out button.
To chop out a segment of the video, use Split and Delete.
- Click and drag the Real-Time Marker to the beginning of the video segment that you want to be chopped.
- Click the Split button.
- Click and drag the Real-Time Marker to the end of the video segment that you want to be chopped.
- Click the Split button.
The chopped segment will appear in a yellow/gold box. Click the Delete key on your keyboard or click the Delete button. White empty segments will appear in your timeline. Play your video to preview. After saving, your video will play continuously without any breaks.
To have your video fade in and out at the beginning and end of your video, use Fade In/Out.
- Click in the timeline. A yellow/gold box will appear around your entire video. Click the Fade In/Out button.
- In the IN box, type the # of seconds you want the fade effect to appear at the beginning of your video. For example, typing “2” means that the first two seconds of your video will Fade In. In the OUT box, type the # of seconds you want the fade effect to appear at the end of your video. For example, typing “3” means that the last three seconds of your video will Fade Out. Play your video to preview.
You can always Undo/Redo/Reset all changes back to the original.
