Announcement: New Technology Service Portal

Article Type: General Information

Question:

  • What is the Service Portal?

Response:

The Office of Information Technology is pleased to announce the launch of the new Technology Services Portal on Monday, August 10! The new Service Portal will improve the way OIT manages Service Desk tickets, by allowing for greater transparency, interactivity, and communication between you and the OIT Service Desk. ARCC and ATC partnered with Hennepin Technical College, Metro State University, and North Hennepin Community College to create a shared user experience across our five institutions, through the Metro Area Technology Consortium (MATC).

What’s changing?

When you send an email to IT.Helpdesk@anokaramsey.edu or IT.Helpdesk@anokatech.edu, you will receive a newly formatted email response.  Within that response, you will now have the ability to click-to-access your ticket through the Service Portal.  You can also reply to the email (no change to current practice) and the ticket will be automatically updated with your response.

What is a Service Portal and how is it new?

The Service Portal is an online website where you can:

  • View your open tickets
  • Create a new ticket
  • Ask a general question
  • Search our expanding knowledge base articles to troubleshoot frequently asked technology questions

The Service Portal is new because now all your service tickets can be viewed and updated online through a web-browser (like Chrome and Edge) as well as a mobile device.

How do I access the Service Portal?

You can access the Service Portal and view your ticket(s) by clicking on a link at the bottom of the email (you receive when you email IT.Helpdesk@anokaramsey.edu or IT.Helpdesk@anokatech.edu) OR log into the Service Portal via https://services.anokaramsey.edu or https://services.anokatech.edu. The Service Portal links will be available in multiple locations, including:

When you log into the Service Portal, use your <StarID>@minnstate.edu (or StarID@go.minnstate.edu) and password.

Can anyone use the Service Portal?

Yes, anyone can access/use the Service Portal, including guests of ARCC and ATC. Guests without an active StarID and password can “Get Help” and have limited access to the Service Portal.
